Stormy

Stormy is a very loyal companion.  He's my 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy.  However he tends to situate himself right where I work, which includes curling up directly where my feet go under my computer.  Also when it's time for dinner he decides to lie smack dab in the middle of the kitchen.  He is a cutie pie and an absolute mush pot.  He loves being held and kissed, but holding him isn't going to last much longer.  He's getting really big.  I actually have 2 puppies right now. Stormy has an older sister (10 months old) named Sunny.  Who's great idea was it to get 2 puppies right before all the upcoming Spring craft shows?  Yikes!
Speaking of craft shows, I guess I better get to work as soon as I find a place to put my feet.
Have a wonderful day.

First Le Petite Complete!

On to the theatre!  I finally finished this design I've been working on, and I'm happy with the results.  It turned into a mermaid design by some strange magic.  I'm also working on some other theatre ideas.  Since I cut out each little piece (the charm is only 1 1/2"x2") it has a 3-D look to it that I wanted for a theatre.  But when I started soldering, problems began.  However I kept going and it finally worked.  I also found out that glitter is kinda addictive.  Yikes, now I look at the calendar and can't believe Feb. is almost over.  I've got to start preparing for craft shows coming up.  First I need to get rid of this flu.  Hope you are well and happy.  ~Martha

Le Petite Theatre

I love the theatre and have always been fascinated by the stage designs.  That's why I started a new design for my little soldered ornaments.  I am making tiny theatres complete with sets and actors.  I thought it would be fun to share with you since I've been completely engulfed in designing them.  I'm just starting the design process, so the stage is a little bare but that will change as we approach opening night.  Any ideas for these?  I'd love to hear them.  ~Martha

Loved Ones

I love making custom charms.  It's one of my great passions to offer something personal to others.  I enjoy making something you can cherish from what you already love.  Your husband, boyfriend, daughter, son, friend, or even a puppy!  I came up with these little charms a bit ago.  I hope you had a great Valentines Day with the ones you love.

Sending Spring Your Way

Spring seems to have come early to California today.  I thought I'd send you some Springtime wishes your way especially if you find yourself a little (or a lot) tired of Winter.  Today I went to Sea World and it was such a beautiful day.  They have such pretty plantings of flowers, and I took a few photos for you.  The placement and combination of plants used at Sea World are so perfect, and I love getting inspiration for my own garden there.  They pack their plants in ball-like hangers, and beautiful cobalt blue pots.

My son and got to pet one of the Budweiser Clydesdales.  This horse was really big and sweet.  I'm about 6 ft. tall so you can get a good idea of just how big this horse was.

I hope you had a great weekend, and enjoy the photos!  ~Martha

Little little Mermaids

Little mermaids have been swimming around my head lately.  My charms seem to be shrinking (as well as my brain, but that's for another blog). I started out making large soldered ornaments about 2x3 inches, but they have progressively become tinier and tinier.  I like the fact that you can wear them on a charm bracelet or necklace.  You can also layer them, and they aren't too heavy.
I've also been working on glitterizing some of their tails.  I was inspired by all the cool mermaids I saw on your beautiful blogs and decided to get out the glitter.  Just a sprinkling of glitter really makes the design sparkle.   I'll have these on my website soon.  :)  Enjoy your friday!

Charmed I'm Sure

Like so many of you, I love creating, and really enjoy making charms.   I like jewelry to be very small and lightweight but if it's too big and heavy I find no matter how pretty the piece I'll never wear it.  So I wondered to myself how small I can make charms.  Cutting the glass, I came up with 1/2 x 1/2 inch.  I need to still grind the edges, and not my fingertips, so ended up with this size. Since they're so little I decided to make them into initials.  The front is embellished with clear crystal Swarovski rhinestones, and the back of the new charms are from Great Grandma's travel journal from when she went to Europe.  The whole collection is on my website.  Hope you enjoy.

P.S.  Rosemary, yours will be in the mail tomorrow.  :)
